5.3 Student Presentation Building Work Days- Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday

Students are building their own mini-lessons for each of the sections within this lesson. These mini-lessons will be used on presentation days to teach students the content. They will travel from station to station learning the content.

November 5th and 6th will be “presentation days”

All students will be graded based upon the rubric provided at the start of the project. We will go over the grading process in class with the paperwork. This process will be followed in order to give students their grades.

All paperwork for this project is provided to students up front.

Chapter 5 Homework

Egypt Vocabulary Poem

Students will create a poem about Egypt using each of the content vocabulary words.

You need to use ALL of the words from the chapter.

Your poem can rhyme but it does not have to.

It must be written as a poem, not a paragraph or a chart.

Ancient Egypt Civilization Characteristics Graphic Organizer

Please follow the instructions on the sheet.

You will find a picture of an item from ancient Egyptian culture that represents each of the categories.

You will then use the sentence frame provided on the sheet to tell how the picture connects to each of the categories.

Homework is due on November 12th.

Updated Grades

I updated grades with most of Chapter 4 assignments today for quarter 2. Please note that several students have not turned in the work. I will be following quarter 2 late policy!

I have put all deadlines per the late policy on individual assignments in Focus. Many assignments are due tomorrow for a late grade and will not be accepted after that.

Parents,

Please speak to your students about adhering to the guidelines and policies here at Julia Landon. We are a quarter through the year, and they are expected to be growing as we go. Many students are simply not following through and doing their work on time or at all.

Their classes are only going to become more challenging from here. The work will be more challenging and the policies become more strict to prepare them for 7th grade. I have had talks with many of my classes about the importance of follow through and moving forward, and I appreciate the support from home as well.

Please check Focus to ensure that your grades have been posted properly and that you know when your work will be accepted if you have not yet turned it in.
